Nev is Nuts

Meet Nev.

Sorry Nev, but I could not resist this post after your comments yesterday!

I was given Mr Nuts (now called Nev) by a dear friend Steph a few years ago. I had not thought about photographing him untill Nev's comments yesterday.

My usual trick of tv for lighting and vaseline for blur with a second layer in overlay mode and blended to suit. The whole process took less than 8 mins.

All the best. Mal

ok mal. i feel humbled that you have placed your effigies for all to see. i will not make any comments whatsoever about vaseline and nuts. not even if someone begs. I love the tv light. is it a particular program that gives such nice tones. beautiful shot as always.
Mal: Yes it was a particular tv show Nev, a re-run of the recent Ashes!!!!

What do you do with the Vaseline? Rub in on the lens? Shock Horror!
Mal: Hey Etomi, I use it on a very light warm up filter in a holder in front of the lense. All the best Mal

At first I thought it would be a toy monkey from the thumbnail... very creative shot indeed. Tivo, vaseline and all smile

ps. LOL @ nev's comment
Mal: Nev's from Australia, he's a bit crazy! Mal
hey mal,

i like these shots of the nuts smile i actually have a chess set made out of various nuts, bolts, and screws. perhaps i will post some of those shots. i really like the angle and the blur of this shot....a lot. very creative with the vasoline. i think that the tv really makes for the best backlight given the varried array of colors. the one thing that i don't like about this shot is the blown out white light...kind of detracts from the overall shot.
Mal: Hey Nicole, as always I really do appreciate constructive comments (so do not stop). Get busy with the camera and post those chess pieces. All the best MAL

i really like the colours in this shot (and the idea of using the TV as a light source!)
Mal: I'm always looking for unusual lighting situations, it can make an interesting subject come to life, just like your natural lighting last evening. Mal
