photoblog image Salty Sun

Salty Sun

Had a bit of a lazy day at home yesterday, quite enjoyed it.

This will be for now the last in the Saltburn series. Not much to say about it really other than it was one of the best sunsets I have ever seen.

When captured there was a full ND8 soft grad filter + Polariser fitted. PS work involved cleaning sensor grot (which I am plagued with at the moment) and a little curves and sharpening.

I'm going out over the week end with the camera to try and capture something!

Have a lovely weekend, Mal

beautiful mal. i love the salt mist in the horizon
Mal: Thank you NEV. While I was in London I saw my images from my in house hotel room computer, the first time that I had seen my photo's from any other source other than my own PC. I need complete honesty from you now!! (when I saw my images from the hotel computer, they were very over saturated aspecially in the red spectrum) are they over saturated on your screen?

All the best Mal
I'll give you a comment tomorrow. This good by the way...but want to look at it properly tomorrow. Too tired now.

mal i don't think they are oversaturated, a couple are close. more than likely the hotel monitor just had everything high. I have been posting from 2 machines both uncalibrated one lcd and 1 crt. the discrepanies are wide. At the moment i am on the crt which is duller so they are ok. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_resolution for some links to online calibration but you are best to use the icc monitor profile for your monitor if you haven't already installed it and calibrate your photoshop to your monitor. Also make sure you are in 32 bit colour mode for your screen settings.
Mal: Thank's for that Nev. Mal
I like the houses in the background on the left side in the middle, it looks like the oil fields that you see in movies smile
Mal: Hey Frederic, it's actually a steel works. Mal

Superb picture Mal. The sky is staight out of Turner painting. (I don't find your colours oversaturated)
Mal: Thank you Paul, A turner painting comment will always be a welcome comment and thanks about the saturation thing. Mal

This is a lovely sunset and the colours lift it from the usual cliched shot into something special, it also resonates with me for personal reasons, I have walked that very beach.....
Mal: Hey Shooter, really appreciate that from you! And really appreciate your time for calling in. Mal

Mal: Thank you Diya. All the best Mal
This shot ACTUALLY feels like you're looking into a sunset... and you can almost feel some heat.
I think you've got a perfect exposure here. Good job.
The red tones were a very nice choice for this shot.. it really warms it up.
Mal: Hi Rich, can I bug you for some basic technical stuff? Mal

Mal: Thank you Deji, really appreciate it. Mal
Love the pull in the water gives off nice horizontal lines. The industry in the backround is interesting too.
Mal: Thank you Dan. I just happened to be (for once) in the right place at the right time. Mal

Er mal - running out of superlatives here. I'm just trolling backwards through your work and I have to say it's all very competent. Stunningly good even. Anything but "bumbling" as you describe yourself. Inspirational I'd say. Thanks for sharing it all with us.
