photoblog image Crazy Castle

Crazy Castle

Thank you for the comments on the previous image.

Taken in Plockton again from the same beach as yesterday. Not much to say about it really.

PS work : Levels and USM.

If anyone has seen the TV show Dobson's of Duncraig, the castle is the one featured in the show.

All the best Mal

PS Nicole has raised a great point, this looks ok on my monitor, how does it look on yours?

Mal: Thank you Master. All the best Mal
hey mal,

simply a beautiful composition. it looks like a postcard. i absolutely love the reflection in the water. one suggestion would be to decrease the brightness a tad...as it stands it is a bit harsh.
Mal: Thank you Nicole, I'm going to look into some monitor calibration stuff, a few people have commented. Mal

Looks like one of those 2000 pieces puzzle that I used to construct as a kid. Cool.
Mal: Thank you Moussa, you were the first but a few commented in a similar fashion later. Mal

mal its like those cool wall size posters/wallpaper of scandanavian scenes that were everywhere in the 70's. it is on the border of being overexposed. the base of the mast and bits of the castle. it could also just be high contrast playing eye tricks as it almost looks hdr. can you tweak that colour button or does it only have one setting wink
Mal: Hey Neal, are you telling me that I am stuck in the 70's? wink Do you know anything about monitor calibration (I know that you do, let me have your ideas on the subject). I shall have a look at the camera settings, colour is a strange world to me. Mal
Hey, I don't want you to feel insulted when I say this could be a winner at my local photo club! I love the bright feel about it and the echo of the blue of the hull in the roof of the castle. Great composition. I agree with nev that it could be considered to be just overexposed when viewed on my laptop but OK on my main monitor, but then may spoil the effect to darken it too much.
Mal: Hi Arty (AKA, old dear worrier). I'll ask the same question that I nev. Do you know anything about monitor calibration? MAL

Very nice smile I like the detail and the reflections are super.

Could be our ancient monitor too, but I'd agree that it seems a bit bright in places .. the stonework mostly.
Mal: I think your right El, i've just uploaded it to another computer, I need to get my monitor calibrated hmmm! Mal

Lovely shot but i would agree the castle and woodland are verging on overexposure. The water and relfections have a more natural feel to them
Mal: Thank's Paul, Mal

beautiful autumn colors, so warm.
Mal: Thank you Chantal for the lovely comment. Mal
Maybe a tad too warm for me, but a great fall capture. I do like the colors.
Mal: Hi Mike, I appreciate it. It seems that I do have some monitor issues. All the best. Mal
Love the colour thought he image almost looks out of focus. Good composition.
Mal: Thank you Dan. All the best. Mal

Lovely, I think it is a little oversharpened, nothing wrong with the brightness in my book.

Suby grin
Mal: Thank you Mr Subster, are you using a TFT screen? This image has got people talking about calibration etc, do know much about it? I think I need to get mine calibrated! Mal

Ah, the background seems too sharp on my computer... but I guess it contrasts in a nice way with the clear, smooth water. I LOVE how the water looks... no idea how you and Spraklite do it. Its crazy.
