Mirror & Steel

i had heard that Kyoto station was a photographers dream and was not dissapointed when we got there. The architecture is superb and worth a visit to Japan all on it's own.

All the best Mal

How are you Malcom? hope great!! didn't get much time lately, but still seeing your pics pal! nice angle on this one!!!
hey mal,

love this shot...especially the angles, patterns and sterile feel. have you thought about cropping off some of the shot to get a real abstract of the archway?

I love this sort of location. There are just so many photo opportunities. You have done a good job on this Mal, there is interest everywhere, my eye keeps seeing new things to look at, great shapes. Another cracker.

Brilliant Architecture, while I was there, I was more worried about getting lost or trampled.
Mal: When were you there Eni? Mal

Lovely work as usual Mal. Great capture of some very nice architecture. i like the lead in of the escalator. My temptation would be to crop the left a little to remove the dark reflection in the top left but that is probably just me, cropping on.
Mal: You always crop stuff! Mal
I just wish I had taken the opportunity when I was in Munich last year, to get some photos of the Hauptbahnhof, as good as this. Please go over there and take some for me!!!! It really is good to see another country through the eyes of an "outsider". Super, super shot Mal, full of all sorts of visual possibilities. Now where has that Japanese phrase book and air ticket gone....mmmmm. Regards, Neil.
Mal: Do you mean Munich or Berlin? Munich station is boring? Mal

A lot to look at. Nice composition and reflections. Indeed it looks like nice modern architecture. Not what you would expect in Kyoto. I am so used to see the old temples of Kyoto that I didn't expected such a modern looking train station.
Mal: You are so right Sidney, I went to Kyoto for history and culture but got modern architecture to. Mal

Darn it, I thought I was going to manage to make an original comment until I got right down to the last one and saw Alex had said 'my comment'.

I too like the matching curves of the roof and the beginning of the escalator. I don't know if I'd have been brave enough to crop to include just 'that bit', but it might be interesting to see what it looks like.

By the way, I like the shot, it's sparkly and bright and very sharp.

I would have been inclined to convert this to monochrome as the red and blue adverts are pulling my eyes that way when there is more interest in the lines of the construction.
Mal: Yes, I think your right about the signs, didn't even think of b/w for this one. Mal
