photoblog image Funland Girls

Funland Girls

"Take my photo Mista" was the  greeting that these young girls introduced themselves with as I was wandering around the beach. I took a few shots but none of them please me greatly. It was very windy on Saturday, on occasions the dry sand was being whipped up and made some interesting patterns along the beach (see Jamey and David's posts yesterday).

I fitted the 70-200 lens and tried to grab this shot as the girls ran trying to escape the sand blast of the beach, or maybe they were just running from me! Which was a big mistake because my camera scensor is now covered in Blackpool sand! Hmmmm!

Wicked shot. very wizard of oz. Nice for 1/8 sec in the wind too mal. what did you tie yourself to a pole or using a tripod. i like your tones as well.
Mal: No tripod, just a lucky hand held Neal.

Nice shot, Mal. I especially like how "Funland" fits wih the exuberance of these young girls; that they are running towards it, and not away, is perfect! Sand in your sensor! Yikes!
Mal: The dust may improve mt photography! Mal

haha, funland fits really well for the shot..
quite sharp for a 1/8 handheld...
everytime i change my lens the dust thing really worries me,
if you do get dust on ur sensor whats the best way to remove it?
and how do i check if there is dust,if its not clearly visible in the pictures....
Mal: It was actually 1/80th. Dust on sensor, the gurus would have you believe it's a vudoo art cleaning sensors, it's not, try a compressed air blower first but not at close range!!! Take a full frame shot into the sky and upload the image to the computer, magnify the image to 300% and scout around for dark spots. Mal
in "funland" girls are jogging on the beach with sweetness. very nice shot

I think the position of the subjects relative to Funland works very very well. Reminds me of the type of shot Jide posts.

Nice work Mal. Looks a bit too cold to be on the beach
Neat shot, Mal. At first I thought it was snow that they were playing in... Then I read your description and had a closer look and find that it was sand blowing across the beach. Anyways, very cool!
Interesting pp....I noticed DJN did the same thing....was this planned?

Ha! I knew that ASBO wouldn't keep you from terrorising the residents of northern beaches for long.
Can't wait to see what the bounty is for you on Crimestoppers... I'll be rich ha ha ha (evil laugh stylee!! ) wink

Great shot, I can really see Blackpool tourist board using this for their spring publicity campaign,
Mal: I've just read the fine print on the conditions of bail and my ASBO! I can not see anywhere, where it says "Do not chase young ladies around the beach".

Blackpool tourist board have just contacted me and asked me not to return in the near future wink Mal

maybe i am a wee bit warped, but it LOOKS like they are running AWAY from you.

hmmm.. i wonder what you said? ~S.
Mal: Hee hee S. You got it they were running from the idiot with the camera! One of them even called me a nerd!!!! Mal wink
I don't know what it is about a man with a camera in Blackpool, especially if you have a big one but but it is definitely one way to pull the birds! Particularly the gulls and pigeons!
Mal: hey Digi, with my false teeth and your beard, we may even pull a heron! wink All the best. Mal

We know you Mal!!!!! you were chasing them smile
Mal: Hey Frederic, thet were faster than me! wink Mal
So let me think, what is good about this shot? Ummmm, ahh, nothing!!

Joke, joke , joke. I love it Mista Mal!! It seems as if the girls are running through mist, which adds an ethereal element to the fun of the shot. Nicely framed and composed and wicked exposure. Regards, Neil.
Mal: It's no joke Neil, you hate it, I can tell! There is only one thing that's wicked around here and he come from SA. wink Mal

What I like is the playfullness, the "joie de vivre" that comes out of this picture! Maybe it was indeed, funland!
