photoblog image Taxi

Taxi

One of my fav images from Japan. I took 37 shots trying to get this one that worked out ok, was there for over an hour and a half (yes, I'm a geek). I was trying to capture the movement of the traffic along with a train on the bridge, with the static taxi in the foreground.

All the best Mal

Between you and Jez Coulson, I don't know which way to look! This is a fab shot, and it certainly sounds like you feel it was worth the effort.

The taxi in the foreground looks a little clipped (nearside mirror) but I do really really like the result. Colours, sharpness and overall composition are all spot on.
Mal: Thank you Mr S. Mal

What a great shot mal. What PP did you use to get the vans headlights to be wonky? Fascinating shot.
Mal: Great spot SL, I had not even noticed that before! I had to go back to the original image to have a look. It is a motorcycle in front of the van, his bike and body were blocking the van light but his bike light was showing, you can just make him out on the image. Mal

i love the layers of complexity here sensei Mal. Obviously the public transport is so good in Japan that the taxis stand waiting for work for an hour and a half. wink Now i know why dafredo would like to live to Japan. Ripper image Mal. I love how there is so much tail light as opposed to headlight. very nice stuff.
Mal: Thank you Neal, Dafredo was last seen at Shinjuku station selling orange pants! wink Mal

Yo lucky the taxi didn't pull away at the last minute, or did you pay him to pose? tongue

The comment about shutterspeed I will leave out.

A brilliant image, worth pressing the button 37 times. nev must be green with the nice blurring here.
Mal: Funny you mention that Louis. In the time I was there, several taxis turned up and I had to recompose the shot at least 10 times. Mal
Hi Mal,
It's amazing! what a great shot! Very nice stuff!

Mal: Thank you Dudee. I appreciate that. Mal

the still car in the foreground adds a lot,it balances the shot.

Mal: Very good question Urv, I did strike up a few great conversations with a few lovely people! But I guess they thought I was a geek. Mal

It takes one second to be captivated by this shot. However, I need more than a day to process all the details in it, so I'll come back with a comment tomorrow!
it's like a kaleidoscope! or like what happens when you look at the sun for too long and you look away and see little suns all around you!
