photoblog image Nessie & Cream

Nessie & Cream

Thank you for the comments on the previous image, they mean a lot to me.

This was again taken at Saltwick Bay near Whitby. I tried to process this image in a couple of ways and ended up making a complete dogs dinner of the attempts, so this version is straight with a slight green/sepia tone which I seem to using more lately and a very slight vignette only.

All the best. Mal

Green/sepia tone I like, never would of thought of that, and the water has almost a mercury look to it. Nice one bruv. J
Mal: Thank you J, just playing with tone, till it pleased me. Mal

I love the silky tones in this Mal. Nice vignette and detail in the waves as well. Must have taken you forever to line those rocks up like that though.
Mal: Fead right Neal, it took me ages to chsel them out of the cliff face. Mal
I love this! i would have never thought of the green/sepia, i really love the idea though. It looks so calm and secluded, and the water has a weird but amazing texture to it, almost silky looking. i really like the rocks too. Great photo!
Mal: Thank you Gabrielle, I'm in the experimentation stage at the moment. All the best. Mal

Hi Mal, I always bob down to your site for a nosy and plagiarism but as you always have so many comments to wade through I usually pass on by. As ever top shot, why arn't you in the photoblogs.org hall of fame?? There's stuff there that has the feel of recycle bin fodder.
Mal: Thank you David. It's funny you mention that sort of thing! A friend recently made a similar comment, I like photo's but have no ambition regarding photography, I just love it for what it is. All the best. Mal

Incredible! The softness of the image is nice yet it's so crisp, and perfect choice of shutter speed to catch the waves
Mal: Thank you Iain. All the best. Mal
Another one that works for me. The lead in lines, foreground detail, composition, processing - they are all spot on for this subject.

Fine art. Look out Joe Cornish - Mal's after your title.
Mal: I taught Joe all he know's! wink Mal

Subtle is sometimes best, the mark of a pro is knowing when to be subtle and using it as a matter of choice (as a tool) rather than being forced into it. I think you've done a good job here.
Mal: Thank you Jamey, I tried a few approaches to this image and realised that it was best left alone. Mal
This is a lovely view of the Nab, I love the ethereal quality in the shot, nicely processed...
Mal: Thank you Shooter. All the best. Mal

I love the order of the foreground rocks - like books on a shelf, and that rigidity is nicely contrasted against the soft swirl of the wave trail around the middle stones. The muted sky also sets the scene.
Mal: You do realise that I am just trying to copy you David! ;-) All the best Mal

There is a wonderful range of tones in this shot and I'm a perpetual fan of long exposures that blur water.
Mal: Thank you Peter. Water, sea, blur all my fav's to. Mal
