I reckon seconds after you took this, a scuba diver surfaced carrying a box of Milk Tray...
Just joking, Old Chap: it's a lovely, serene image!
You really are committed, me get up at an ungodly hour, yeah right smile

Lovely lovely capture.

P.s
When are we going to go shooting together? grin
That's so funny - Redshift saying that. I was thinking of the Lady of the Lake popping up with Excaliber...
It's cool and calm and classical. And I do like it. You could have one of your spectres walking down the jetty...

whoa thats early!

i'd bounce down the dock and shatter the calm waters to make sure everyone else had to up with me too. i like those orange colours Malcolm. did you notice the way the trees point in two different directions? pretty funky. ~S.
Very serene. I like!

Wow!
I can almost smell the serenity. Ooooops, that is an Australian joke!
I really like the inky water in the extreme foreground, and the boat on the left riding so high it is almost hovering.
Early morning is good, mal.
LOL, I think it is well worth you getting up in the middle of night to take it! It is certainly different than what you have been posting recently, but certainly no less enjoyable.
It's the kind of photo I always stop in to see. Love it. I'm always up and see the sunrise...every morning. It's the best time of day.

Two thumbs up, Mal! I like this very much. You've captured nature in all her beauty (and a couple of nice boats too).
Not your style but beautiful ! Colours are simply beautiful.
Beautiful. Love the feeling of quiet and solitude, and the gentle light. Well worth the effort of turfing yourself out of bed. (:o)
That is something else, Mal. Better than any chocolate box I've seen mate. Was this taken close to home, or on one of your jaunts around the world?
Ray, stole my serenity joke, but I'm sure "the castle" is off to one side out of the shot. Lovely capture and I love getting up for the morning light.
Beautiful soft light and excellent composition - and I thought you'd gone off you're landscapes...

Now you are spoiling us - two mal pics in two days - wow.

Early morning stillness on the water. I see you have succeeded in missing the last appearance of nessie. You have to get up sooner for that.

Great pic mal.
Absolutely stunning, now I would have stayed in bed, you know old age and all that ... where is this it looks so peaceful.
Serenity.
Very serene and tranquil scene, back to your early morning stuff!

Insomnia is a great asset for the committed photographer!

Maybe not YOUR style, Mal, but it sure is mine! I love it!
Lovely composition..
Lovely image Mal - but surprising for you, are you on medication? It may be choc boxy - but there aren't many who don't like chocolate. David.

Beautiful light, Mal. I was at the beach recently (sans camera) at 4 am and couldn't believe the changing colors of the water..all the way from slate grey into the creamy purple, pinks and golds of this shot. I swore I'd photographically explore all of Gabriola's special island places at that time but haven't yet.. can't quite shake the sandman's spell. Your photo is a great inspiration for me to do just that. Thanks. wink
That is an exceedingly powerful image Mal. Very good
So nice, so quiet, you've had a good idea to wake up so early smile
Stunning picture! Just a few colors - but light and tones let me feel the serenity of this moment.
