Aah!
Electric blue, dancing smoke. I think it is a Tango....right?

Or...perhaps a jellyfish in the sea, close to the effluent outflow from the Talisker distillery off the Isle of Skye?

Great stuff, mal.

And you a non - smoker!! (well the normal ciggies!!)grin Great shot mate. BTW, does the new template allow images smaller than 500,000 pix ? I notice from your exif, that you are quite a way down on that with this. Beautiful lighting here and absolutely super focusing, not to mention the great composition. Many regards, Neil.

A-ha and ABC...are you stuck in the 80's??

Nice shot, another type of shot I've yet to try and probably won't for fear of failure!! Love it.
Amazing shot! Tell me that it took at least fifty attemts to get this - just to make me feel better! I wouldn`t have a clue where to begin with this type of photograph. (:o)

When Mal shoots, everyone looks! grin Yes, that's the effect you have on us!

Johnny should have known you were NOT in Amsterdam on Saturday but at a birthday party. We DID miss you.

I'm hearing violins. Spookily, this is the song I was humming to myself yesterday as I was driving home.

Yeah, this is a great shot Mal, love the blue and the black background is very effective.

My son was using my dSLR for the first time at the weekend and he wants to try some smoke shots, so I'll be doing some of these myself again soon.

Incidentally, I know you shoot a lot at ISO 50 - over on photo.net there was some thought that you might get a reduced dynamic range on that setting, as the 'native' ISO setting is 100. Make of that what you will! http://photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00MStX

wink
This is a bit yesterday isn't it Mal!o

Good effort however, is that faint praise?

If anyone is interested there is a link to a tutorial on shooting smoke on my blog.

Fantastic shot. I've never tried to capture smoke before so was surprised to see from the exif that the shutter speed was only 1/80s. I would have thought that you needed a fast shutter speed to capture the movement without blurring?

Lazy patterns in blue. Could that be a song? It can become one if you can write the music.

Inspiratiomal.
exactly the type of shot i knew you'd do...liking the ghost blue toning...
like this one mal.

Awesome! I did something similar but used ink in a tank full of water. This smoke comes off so much better! It's great! Can you share any technical aspects with us? How it was lit and things like that?
Great pic, Mal. I like the dance of smoke!
