Yes another lovely atmospheric shot! The light shining from the front door makes it work by adding a friendly note to the otherwise austere scene.
Beautiful. I see lots of day lighthouse shots but this is way better. The light is actually on.

I think this might be my favorite image so far this year Mal. Have you printed this out yet ? If you haven't send it over and I'll do it for you.

Very dramatic Mal grin
Nice atmosphere an tone, whereabouts was it taken Mal?
Yes- let's all go back to film, it's much more atmospheric- or is it that we took a little more time and care before pressing the shutter? Either way, this is a wonderful shot!

Mal, We started the 'single tree' theme (remember). I started the 'lighthouse' theme ... SO you choose the next theme after I get back from a week's break ... Ha! Hmmmm ... never thought of waiting till nightfall... Back to the drawing board. Great image. richard.

Nothing subtle about this image!

To me it reads like a refutation of the concept of fate...our lives are not pre-scripted in the Big Book of Life...our lives and our environment is uncertain, and there are many rocks and storms to challenge us...we are not alone; there are fellow travellers, folks who have some helpful hints, folks who can offer us comfortable and safe resting places when we are tired; even, if we are not too risk-averse, folks who would be prepared to be companions along the way.

[There is no God in my life, mal...I find that my own resourcefulness, plus the companionship of a few good co-travellers, provides a quite adequate toolkit for me.]

You exquisite image depicts the uncertainty of my life, and provides a nice generic portrait of my co-travellers. I love it!
Fabulous atmospheric shot. I'm green with envy!

Let me add my wonderful to that of everyone else. As spotted by Martin the light in the doorway lifts the mood and moves the eye. Still have my ME Super and generally agree that however good digital has got, it still cannot beat film for subtlety as your shot testifies. Mike

Bring me home my love, what a romantic shot Mal. Love it.
Mal! This is one of my favourites that I've ever seen on shutterchance! For one I love lighthouses but the mist and the incredible beam of light and the softness, PLUS the black and white -- very well composed and processed photo. Fantastic! smile

This is such a great shot Mal. Quite mesmerizing. Love the way that the light is on in the porch - I asume it was taken like that, rather than fiddled with. If it was fiddled with then you're even more of a genius.
Fab shot

for me lighthouses have a certain romanticism (if the word exists)and a message of hope about them, to my eye you've captured that masterfully here.
