How often are you misunderstood, how often will some understand.

How often will that message cast at sea, land upon sands that see.

All the best. mal

I really like the DOF and the simplicity of the composition, which complements the simplicity of the caption.
Deep.

Great shot, perfectly composed and executed, Mal. Love the fact that you can't quite make out what's in the bottle.

A well composed, a bit alienated pic with an atmosphere of lonelyness and mystery. While looking at this photo I could huming away to myself:

"...A year has passed since I wrote my note
But I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life
But love can break your heart

I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle.." (Sting)

I see a hint of Dave Nightingale's obsession with the beach found objects here. Yours, though, is more misterious and has more finesse.
I'm truly glad you let your own thoughts out and didn't go with an easy path by quoting someone else's verses. I'd love to see more of that. Your own thoughts will give a new, deeper dimension to your already wonderful photographs.

The narrow dof is a masterstroke here, love the way the tones blend together in the distance.
Philine took the words out of my mouth!
Wow, as a thumbnail, I was drawn to this image. When it came on the screen it was still just great. Simple, but great.

all the time and not often:d hard to grasp how a empty bottle stuck in the sand can look so good but it does or is it the contents of said bottle clouding my judgment grin. Top notch Mal.
Lovely shot Mal
I just want to repeat what VZ said, plus I really like the extreme softness and sharpness.
I looked at this earlier this morning and didn't know if I liked it or not. I'm looking this evening and I do. I like the slight unreality of colour and the interesting focus. I also like the original caption.
The bottle reminds of one of those old fashioned used flash bulbs! Excellent photograph and words too.

Mal has very narrow DoF after consuming the sludgy substance ... nice touch to leave the glass container where it can be easily spotted by the "recycling engineer" in the morning.

The message is clear..."Drink during daylight hours, when you can see the condition of the contents".
As above, so below...

DOF and clarity are wonderful and it's a fabulous iconic composition as well.

You are so right, especially when it is from one language to another language, sometimes it is frustrating that it sometimes gets lost in the translation.
This is a superb picture, the DOF, the colours.
I once found a letter in a bottle, I wrote to the girl for a year, she was from the UK smile

I like this one a lot, Mal! It is symbolic in a very tidy way.
"Message in a bottle..."
Wonderful compo Mal, I love the tonal range too, and the sepia adds a dramatic feeling, a great loneliness...
I was glad to see you ! smile
