I had a conversation with Martin yesterday http://point.shutterchance.com/ about a trip to Scotland that he and Esther may make this summer. It reminded me to post some old images that I have of that area. This is Rannoch Moor, just south of Glencoe.

Nice shot Mal.
I'll ask you about places to go more often if it results in you posting shots like this. We are definitely coming now! Thank you again for your advice!
Just Wonderful
Wow Mal, this is beautiful. The colors are unexpected and delicate and the shot is so soft. It really appeals to me.
Wow Mal : a so beautiful place, so nicely caught ! Very good work !
And what fantastic colour Best shot I have seen of this familiar scene!
Just wonderful Mal. I love the atmosphere! A likey for me.
Beautiful landscape Mal. It is like a deamscape.
Ingrid
Magical capture, Mal. What planet is this on?
The thick fog above the land and the frosted trees make this soooo beautiful; it's almost like a dream.
This is stunning, Mal. I love the illusion that the land is `floating`. Beautiful. (:o)
This must be the onset of Ice Age III. I just miss that silly squirrel with sabre teeth.
Now I want to go to scotland too Excellent picture
Colour suits you!
A real gem Mal. I know this area and have been up to Scotland on a couple of trips over the past 2 years, but I never got anything this beautiful. I see postcard sales in your future!
Simply lovely. The low cloud & tones give it a really special feel
Beautifully captured Mal. Scotland really is my favourite place in the UK.
Wow is all I can say. What a cracking shot Mal.
This is just phenomenal, the peace and quiet that breathes this pictures is enormous....Scotland is very beautiful....a nice to visit, you just sent your invitation to go....thanks for sharing...
Colour Mal - this is a change for you! Reminds me very much of the Lake District.
Sheer bliss
Just a sampler from the "rubbish" you have stashed in the "discards" folder, huh!
One day I hope to be fortunate enough to make just one picture as good as this. There is not a thing in this Masterpiece to say it wasn't shot 60 years ago...
it has quite a painterly feel about it - beautiful as always Mal
This is a watercolor painting, Mal, and does more than justice to your fair country. Donica and I were in the Highlands a couple years ago and would go back in a flash! It's heaven on earth!
Rannoch moor is possibly one of the largest areas of isolation left in the British mainland. I crossed it by car in thick mist one way and watery sunshine the other ...extrordinary. Rannoch train station is an oasis in such pretty well unchanged wildness. Never saw this loch though. Triggers amazing memories from serious fell walking in Torridon etc some years ago mal. cheers richard
absolutely gorgeous man, what a sight!
It must've been SO damn cold, but I love the serenity of it (that's the mountainbiker in me coming out)! If there is a town just out of frame on the right, I DON'T want to know about it! H.
Nice Mal. A number of the members of our camera club take lots of pictures of this area, I think this is better than any of theirs
What an amazing landscape Mal, the mist is brilliant and I love the almost blank foreground. What a good job you had that conversation elsse we wouldn't have seen this.
Love the way Codrin responds to this. It's how it moves me too.
Xpan and film - wonderful.
beautiful colors and composition. a dreamy world... very nice!
next time you plan to visit Scotland give us a shout, would love to try capture a scene like this
Superlative Mal ;o)
the subtleties are beautiful. The flowing cloud and mountain in the background are just wonderful, indeed just like a dream.
Love this one Mal.
Epic X-pan goodness.
Belter too Mal
Likey time, Mal.
Just gorgeous
I like the muted colours, there is so often to much colours in these kind of pics imho. Can't really decide if the little dark area in the water - almost in the bottom right corner - is distracting or if it adds positive tention...
Wow! very Japanese in composition- lovely ethereal shot.
That's wonderful Mal. Rannoch can be a pretty blek spot, but you've caught it looking beautiful.
Another beautiful shot...but that is to be expected, sir.
Wow - just the right amount and range of colors in order to support the atmosphere of the photo. Dreamlike, but also a bit desolate.
Instant likey. The colours and of the scene here are beautifully subtle. Rannoch Moor such a wonderful place.
very, very beautiful -"Nebel schleichen in die Höh'...widerspiegelnd ruht der See..."- This is 'my photo' and you should continue this kind of style if possible... A pic of a dream and a pic which reminds me of wonderful holidays in Scotland! But this Scotland during wintertime, absolute loneliness, without any visitors as in summertime.
