I had the great pleasure of meeting one of the best photographers of our modern age at the weekend. If you have not noticed the work of Vernon Trent then I suggest that you take the time to do so. I bumped into his work about 18 months ago and was completely blown away by it, he produces work that I can only aspire to! He can be found at http://www.xoverip.info/
Update : http://www.xoverip.info/pb/index.php
thanks VZ
This shot is Vernons, not mine, he even made me look pretty! lol

I fully agree with you, mal. Vernon is one of the best out there. As I told him, it takes a master to create something decent from this kind of material, ha-ha-ha.
I don't know why you posted a link to his info page, instead of his blog, where all the good pictures are. Here it is for those who are interested http://www.xoverip.info/pb/index.php Z
Looks like he was not successful at talking you out of your clothes, though, mal. [grin]
I love this character picture of you. I am sorry to tell you that the link from Viktor is a better one than yours, I really am intersted in his pictures.
I won't comment on you being pretty or not, mal, that's not my place!
But good image - had a look at Vernon's site, and it is impressive work. Maybe he'll let you use this as your FB profile shot? John
I agree. Vernon's photoraphs are really good. I wish I also had access to the same well of inspiration that fuels him. He's snapped you quite well too. Nice to see you.
Nice portrait. Nice to meet you, Mal.
Top man Vernon, helped me sort out my Pixelpost blog. Great photographer to but who told you you were "pretty" I thought he might have had you stripper to your St Michaels at least! Now that may have been pretty. Where is the exhibition?
Having seen you in living color, Mal, I'll have to say that Vernon did you justice in B&W. WOW. Thanks for introducing me to the man behind this work of art.
Hi Mal, you obviously made an impression since you're now in his blogroll
He has taken one or two nice shots, hasn't he... http://www.weeklyshot.org/user/VernonTrent/ It's interesting to know who influences you, since you obviously influence so many yourself...
Pleased to meet you !!!
a really great picture of you mal. was so nice to meet you there
all the best, calisto
good to put a face to the name. You look very distinguished and arty!
Cant make a silk purse out of a pigs ear,but he did try.lol mick.
LOL at Mick.
Also Astrid is right VK's link is better. Nice to see your in out of the cold anyway...
First I thought you just ran out of photo subjects. Cat has eloped with the dog and it leave you with no more subjects.
So you think mr Trent can work miracles? Well, maybe he can Have to go take a look at his site... OK I have been there and he is good - saw you and the gallery in Ratingen where your pic was taken. I'll put the site in my favourites for leasure viewing later. Thanks.
Great to meet you (again), Mal! And thanks for that link.
Nice meeting you in such a nice decor Mal
Good portrait Mal. The difference in contrast between you here and you on Trent's site is considerable. Must say I prefer the version on Trent's site, much more gutsy. I've been to his site a few time and really admire his work.
Thought you had emigrated or something! Good to see you again!
will check that out Mal, as for the photo of you well thats fine, you look like you should be wearing a crombie coat and stood in front of some very large doors lol
Fascinating discovery in more than one way Mal. richard
You are getting fat Mr. Smart!!! Too much time sat in beer gardens on Christmas eve
Many regards, Neil.
I see where you get your inspiration from Mal. If you like him, check out my inspiration by Keith Carter: http://www.keithcarterphotographs.com/
I had a look and there is some impressive stuff. Reading the comments it seems this is a reasonable likeness of you
Thanks for the link Mal - interesting ideas. Refreshing to see something original.
Boy you look defensive in this shot ;o)
Thanks for introducing Vernon, will take some time rummaging around his site. Now which one is you?
You're meant to SMILE for the camera, didn't anybody tell you?
That's it Mal, you're famous now. (The Weekly Shot link - site's now closed.)
Herr Trent works magic once more: who's a pretty boy, then?
Mal, some things are beyond even Vernon... he certainly caught a pose though!
Thanks for the hint - there certainly are some very impressive shots on Vernon's site. Sigh..another time-eater
Nice to get a face to go together with "Mal"...
He's been in my bookmarks for a long time Mal. Did you learn anything?
yeah Malster, it was a great pleasure to meet you too. Thanks for coming over and the nice time .
Cheers M8
Very cool
Why so serious?
handsome devil..
Ha! I had seen this shot among Vernon's and was surprised to see it in your archive - I was wondering if Vernon had a clandestine blog going on! Six degrees. I have just started browsing but some of your stuff is great.
this goes to prove my theory of our subjective and unreliable our assessments of photographer's works are
had a beginner taken this shot we may have lectured him on distracting backgrounds and composition but knowing it's by such a master as trent makes us look for a reason for the choices made my guess in this case for instance is that the shot in the background is his, and is the main subject, while you are like a personalised autograph on a masterpiece am i even making any sense ps i feel you're too hard on yourself |
